advice for the freshmen;;

Don't expect high school to be exactly like what you see on TV. It's nothing close to that. It's just school. It's exactly like middle school, just bigger.

It's not meant to be glamorous with tons of drama circulating the magazines. Your best friend won't be gossiped about on a website. Sure, there will be drama, but there is always drama wherever you go. It's just how life is. Not everyone agrees on a subject, arguments rise, and you've got drama.

Don't overdress (or underdress) every day. People will think you are strange and that you're trying too hard. You can dress cute, but keep it simple. Don't abuse the bracelets and necklaces and bags and makeup and belts. Make it work, and make it comfortable enough to actually work in. There's this one girl in my PE Dance class who always wears these chunky, high heel sandals with black sweat pants and long sleeve shirts. I want to shake her by the shoulders and tell her how she should change her outfit. Seriously. And I'm not exactly all about fashion.

If you like a guy, show it by flirting with him. Don't throw yourself at him or start planning your wedding before he even asks you out. Wait a couple of dates (or until he officially asks) before you go out and call him your boyfriend.

The dances aren't as magical as they appear on TV. Make sure that a ton of your friends are going, because I went to Winter Formal last year with just 2 friends and it was pretty boring.

Don't date the seniors (remember, this applies to freshmen and younger only). Female freshmen who date seniors quickly gain a reputation for being easy, and that's not something you want.

Don't ask the upperclassmen for help or directions. They don't like talking to the "loser freshmen". They also expect you to learn things on your own.

Crying to your teacher will not work anymore. Suck up the tears and accept the F. Try to make up the grade with good work ethic and tons of extra credit.

Don't bring valuable items to school. People like to steal things. I once had a friend who stole my best friend's pencil pouch and spilled everything on the floor of the girls' bathroom. Other people will do worse things, so never leave your locker open and unattended. Also, try not to leave anything important in your lockers (this includes books).

If you notice some sophomores/juniors/seniors being loud and acting like dorks, don't tell them to shut up. They're more important to you in the High School Scale of Importance. Maybe you should be the one to shut up.

You and your boyfriend are adorable, but nobody wants to see you two making out by the lockers. Save that for a time when no one's watching. If you can't resist the urge, kiss him, but don't act like a total porn star. Keep it simple, and leave him wanting more.

More will be added when I think of things. So PAYCEE for now.
