Today started like any other day. I woke up early, took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, walked to school, and took two finals. Then 12 PM rolled around.
My Spanish teacher let our class out early for, like, the very first time ever. So my friend Alice and I just strolled around campus, cracking up over the cold weather, and talking about In N Out. We chillaxed near the lockers, waiting for everyone to show up.
Sarina finally showed up, and the three of us walked to my house. When we got there, we dropped our crap-filled bags and played Rock Band 2, with Sarina on drums, Alice singing, and me on guitar. Then my mom came downstairs and drove us to In N Out.
Midway through my Double Double, the thought hit me (and Alice and Sarina apparently): it was summer. We didn't have homework. We didn't need to wake up early the next day. We were officially free.
We were also officially sophomores, but more on that later.
My mom dropped us off at the beach after we all finished our burgers (or, in Sarina's case, fries and vanilla milkshake). The majority of our friends were hanging out there, just like last year (except last year's last day of school fiesta involved actually going into the ocean, a sandy box of pizza, and a huuuuge game of truth-or-dare). There was a ton of hugs, a ton of sand-throwing, and a ton of avoiding a certain couple making out.
Ahem.
Anywho, there were a few things I learned today:
- One man's trash isn't always another man's treasure. It could be trash to them, too.
- I can throw a football better than two or three of the guys in my group of friends. Spiraled, too :D
- You can accidentally murder someone (well duh - inside joke).
- I could possibly have my English teacher again next year.
The beach brought back a ton of memories of last summer, which has been my favorite summer to date. We even sat in the same spot as before: right next to the lifeguard stand in front of the food area thing (nice description, eh?). It was like last year...except colder. And different. And I'm pretty sure we were all thinking the same thing.
Move over, summer oh-eight. Oh-nine's gonna be fierce.
