I'm back from my fun-filled weekend at Mammoth Mountain. Who's ready for a reeeeeeeeeeally short version of the ski trip?
*raises both hands*
Day One: Friday
I left school at lunch time (yay for 2 hour classes and three classes a day!) with my friends Sarina and Nicole. I went home/packed/ate a soggy sandwich/searched for my iPod then got into the mini van my mom had gotten while our car was in the shop. We shoved our bags into the back then drove to Nicole's house.
Nicole, Alex, and their mom got into the car. They had sandwiches, too. Then we drove to Sarina's house.
Alex and Beni (my younger brother) got out of the car and got into Sarina's family's car while Sarina jumped into ours.
On the six hour trip, we:
a) Took pictures of ourselves
b) Took pictures of the mountains
c) Chewed gum
d) Listened to our iPods
e) Texted each other from a foot away
f) Ate tons of food
g) Whined about lack of Starbucks on the way
h) Decided who likes who (Sarina might like Batman, I like Superman, Nicole is a nerrrrr but we know who likes her)
And then Sarina's battery ran out of power.
We ate at Whiskey Creek (I had a cheeseburger. yumm.) for about an hour, then got back into the cars and drove to Mammoth.
Basically twenty minutes away from Mammoth, it was snowing. We needed to put on the chains. But the chains we had didn't fit the rental car's tires. So the dude was all, "You have to drive really slowly cause we don't sell 'em."
That's when notmyherosmokerguy walked up to us and was all, "I SELL THEM," in a gruff/smoker voice. He sold us the heavy duty (but easy to put on/take off, lol) chains and helped my mom and Nicole's mom put them onto the tires.
We FINALLY got to the hotel at 11:30. Nicole and I had a snowball fight while Sarina texted in the car. Then Nicole and I got hungry again so we made ramen.
*sleeptimeyay*
Day Two: Saturday
Nicole and I both woke up at 7, while Sarina didn't wake up until like 8:45. We ate breakfast and got dressed for skiing(me) and snowboarding(her). Luckily we each had our own shoes and only needed to rent the boards/skies&poles. Sarina didn't wake up until we were about to leave, then took 92318298910943904829304572390 hours to do her hair.
Um, pigtails works fine?
While we were waiting in line, Nicole started to over heat. She took off her jacket and hat but still felt faint, so her mom took her outside.
She fainted.
Then she got cold and was kinda freaking out cause all she wanted was her snowboard.
After all that commotion, we took 239189028 pictures because parents
Beni left us after one run, then re-grouped after lunch.
For dinner we ate at LuLus. Nicole and I had gnocchi. Yummmmmmm.
Then we watched the Bill Cosby show (lol) and fell asleep.
Day Three: Sunday
Our last skiing day.
Beni
We were in the same groups, except my mom was in lessons and Sarina and Nicole were not. They had beginner's passes and stayed on the green slopes.
Noah somehow got lost and so I just skied with Alex.
After lunch (I had the leftover gnocchi), Noah rejoined Alex and I. YAY FOR THE THREE MUSKATEERS. We decided to go over to the McCoy Station, meaning we'd have to take Stump Alley up then ski down a bit.
It was freaking WINDY. And ICY. Noah and I (being the smaller two) were practically falling off of the chairlift.
Then we had to ski down an icy hill. Noah and I were being pushed down that, too.
We stopped for hot chocolate and cookies when Alex got a phone call from my mom.
Alex explaining as self: Hello?
Alex explaining as my mom + FOBish accent: DONT GO TO CANYON.
Alex explaining as self: What?
Alex explaining as my mom + FOBish accent: DONT GO TO CANYON.
Alex explaining as self: Why not?
Alex explaining as my mom + FOBish accent: IT IS WINDY. GO OTHER WAY.
Alex explaining as self: Huh?
Phone dies.
So we started skiing back down to Gold Rush Express when we found out Alex's snowboard bindings were loose.
We got onto Gold Rush Express--also very windy--then skied over to Quicksilver. Alex thankfully fixed his bindings. Then he pulled out a mini video camera thing and began recording our adventure.
From Quicksilver we went to Slot, which involves a long road of moguls, which Noah got stuck on. Then we went down this dip, then back up, past Chair 9, then back home.
Trust me, it was cooler on the adventure.
We finally got back to the hotel, then had a snowball fight: me, Beni, and Alex versus Noah, Nicole, and Sarina.
I have an obsession with making perfect snowballs.
That night we watched the Grammys and I finally signed onto Polyvore on Sarina's dad's laptop. Then Nicole made one.
Then we all went to sleep.
Day Four: Monday
Today we had no school (WOO!) but Beni did. He just missed it.
We started driving at 9 and got home at 3:30.
The highlights of the trip included the following:
a) my iPod dying
b) obsessive talk about summer
c) planning a boy-girl camping trip with our group of friends
d) them having to write a script for spanish class
e) us stopping at Carl's Junior. I had 5 chicken breast pieces with a terrible aftertaste that only goes away after drinking watery root beer. Yum -__-
f) me and sarina texting while Nicole slept
g) finally getting home (:
So here I am.
How was your weekend?
