A card for my aunt

My "aunt" Josie (she's my mom's friend. you know...that kind of aunt. but we've known her since forever so it's all good :]) is one of the many women in the world suffering from breast cancer. Sadly enough, I know a lot of women that have been diagnosed as well. Thankfully, they're all still the happy people I knew them to be.

Just a few minutes ago, my mom asked me to write a card for Josie. I was in the middle of eating a piece of chicken when she lay a card in front of me. There was a picture of a tiny bird clinging to a tree on it. In the bird's beak was a green marble.

What the hell? I thought. "Um....why is there a marble in his mouth?" I asked my mom. She simply shrugged and went back to laptoping.

I grabbed a pen and stared intently at the cover. Poem. Bird. Marble. Beak. Cling. I've got it! I thought excitedly, and began to write.

Marble-eating bird
Maybe his will to hold on
symbolizes you.
